The Cardiff is the very essence of what a mid-priced round profile reel should be. Strong, responsive and easy to use, it is built with a lightweight aluminium HAGANE Body and a machined aluminium spool for strength. Perfect for large lures in fresh and saltwater, this small sized multiplier offers precision, strength and value in one complete package.
If you are looking for a reel to handle larger lures than your normal baitcaster can cope with, or want a small multiplier type reel for saltwater use, the Cardiff could be your perfect fit. Whilst it doesn’t have some of the technology found on the top end Shimano models, you can totally depend on this attractive burnished silver and gold workhorse. It will cast medium and large lures with the best of them, and just as importantly crank them back with the muscle and smoothness required for maximum effect. Or if you prefer, combine it with your lightweight saltwater jigging rods and have some fun with hard fighting ocean dwelling monsters.
The Cardiff takes full advantage of its ultra strong HAGANE Body. Light in weight, with a reputation for toughness, it’s the perfect foundation for Shimano’s high quality build quality, which is further backed up by the inclusion of a machined aluminium spool. Even the handle is machined from aluminium. When they designed Cardiff, weakness certainly wasn’t going to be a factor. Casting is controlled by Shimano VBS (Variable Brake System), which can be adjusted to suit your lure size, conditions and casting style. The smallest 201A is the most versatile caster and will handle light-medium to large lures; the 301A is a perfect large lure compromise; whilst the 401A really comes into its own with the very largest lures.
