Martin Meier recommends a zander fishing setup!
What's in the box
Why does Martin Meier recommend this particular setup for zander fishing?
Martin Meier has been fishing for over 40 years. He is a world champion in competitive fishing and a multiple-time Estonian champion, with extensive experience in zander fishing. This setup is therefore not based simply on technical specifications or price, but on decades of practical fishing experience.
Westin W8 PowerTeez 2nd 210 cm / 14–49 g is a light, fast and highly sensitive rod that clearly transmits bottom contact and even the most cautious zander bites. At the same time, it has enough power for a solid hookset and to keep larger fish under control.
Westin W3 3000 reel balances the rod very well. The reel weighs 255 grams, features a smooth 7+1 bearing system, a 7 kg drag and retrieves 74 cm of line with each turn of the handle. This makes the setup comfortable both for jigging from a boat and for long days on the water.
Westin W10 13 Braid 0.148 mm adds strength and reliability to the setup. Its round 13-strand construction runs smoothly through the guides, allows accurate casting and transfers the movement of the lure clearly to the rod. With approximately 9 kg breaking strength, there is also plenty of reserve if a big pike decides to interrupt your zander fishing.
For Martin, a good zander setup has to work as one complete system. The rod must transmit the bite, the reel must keep the setup balanced and the braid must tell you what is happening underwater. After more than 40 years of fishing, you learn that one tiny tap can sometimes be the most important moment of the entire day.
This is not simply three expensive pieces of tackle put together. It is a balanced zander setup selected by an experienced competition angler for fishermen who want to truly feel the bottom, the lure and the fish.
Recommended by Martin Meier – selected with the experience of a world champion and approved by WFISH for zander fishing.
