Hendri Tarto recommends a sea trout fishing setup!

Hendri Tarto is one of Estonia’s most experienced sea trout hunters. While others are still looking out of the window in the morning and wondering whether it is worth heading to the coast, Hendri is probably already standing in the water with the first kilometre of shoreline behind him.

Over the years, Hendri has tried enough rods, reels and braids to know what actually works for sea trout. He put this setup together based on what he would personally use on the coast.

Westin W8 Spin 2nd 10’ / 300 cm 7–30 g is a long, light and sensitive rod that delivers exactly what sea trout fishing requires – long casts, excellent lure control and enough sensitivity to feel the bite immediately. When the fish strikes far from shore, the rod needs to do its job.

Westin W3 3000 FD is a great match for the long sea trout rod and keeps the setup nicely balanced. During a day on the coast you can easily make hundreds of casts, and according to Hendri, by the evening your legs can be tired – your casting arm does not need to be.

Westin W10 13 Braid provides long and accurate casts together with excellent contact with the lure. In sea trout fishing, every extra metre counts. The farther you can reach the right water, the more productive area you can cover.
